DOCKETS - DATES, TIMES, GENERAL INFORMATION

Rhome Municipal Court is a "Court of Record" as established by City Ordinance in 2012.

Municipal Court - office hours are :  Mon-Thurs, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  ***  ---Court is closed on Fridays --

There will not be court staff available to assist you on Fridays.

***  However, you can submit documents and payments (Money Order, Cashier's Check, or CASH (must be exact amount). You will need to follow up with court staff the next business day to ensure your documents/payments were applied to your citation. 

***  It is your responsibility to comply with all rules and regulations of the court to ensure you are following proper procedures to resolve your citation in a timely and correct manner.  Feel free to use the "sub-tabs" on this website to answer any questions you may have should staff be unavailable.

*** BEFORE YOU CONTACT THE COURT ---- please read the handout the officer gave you when you received your citation.  That handout (Plea Document) contains very important information and instructions on how you need to enter your formal written plea.

**** If you need information about a new citation, please read the information document the officer gave you with your citation. That document is very important.  You need to select one plea option PER violation, completely fill out the lowest portion of the form, and submit that original form with your original citation back to the court not later than the 20th business day from the date of your citation.  (That date is shown in the "Court Information" section in the center of your citation.)

PLEASE REVIEW ALL INFORMATION BELOW IF YOU ARE SCHEDULED FOR DOCKET IN THIS COURT

UNTIL YOUR CITATION HAS BEEN RESOLVED IN FULL, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE COURT OF ANY CHANGES

*** MINORS (JUVENILES - 16 yrs of age and younger) -MUST APPEAR IN COURT WITH THEIR PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN

Municipal courts have jurisdiction over minors (age 16 or younger) charged with Class C misdemeanor offenses, Public Intoxication (age 17-20), Possess/Consumption of Alcohol (under age 21), and Possession of Tobacco Products (under age 18).

*** Minors who fail to appear or who fail to pay their fine as ordered will be reported to the Department of Public Safety.  You then risk a suspension of your driver's license.  Minors who do not have a driver's license will not be able to obtain one until their case is resolved in full.

WARNING: A MINOR child and parent or legal guardian required to appear before the court have a legal obligation to provide the court the current residential address and contact information of the minor child.

ALL PERSONS SCHEDULED FOR DOCKET ARE REQUIRED TO APPEAR IN PERSON.

However, under the laws of this State, you do have the right to hire an Attorney of Record to appear on your behalf.

IF YOU DO NOT APPEAR AS ORDERED BY THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF THIS COURT, A SUBSEQUENT VIOLATION OF "FAILURE TO APPEAR" MAY BE ISSUED BY THE JUDGE IF YOU ARE FOUND IN VIOLATION OF NOT APPEARING WITHOUT GOOD CAUSE.

  • A "FAILURE TO APPEAR VIOLATION" MAY BE ISSUED with a fine ranging from $1.00 to $500.00 plus required state fees & court costs
  • A WARRANT MAY BE ISSUED FOR YOUR ARREST with an additional fee up to $50.00
  • A HOLD MAY BE PLACED ON YOUR DRIVER LICENSE with an additional fee of $10.00
  • COLLECTIONS STATUS MAY BE APPLIED with an additional fee of 30% based on your total prior to collections status

***  If you need a continuance (reset) regarding your Court setting -

you must submit a written MOTION FOR CONTINUANCE with an ORDER for the judge to sign

to the Court no later than 48 business hours prior to your setting date and time.

The judge will make a decision whether or not to grant the continuance. You will be notified in writing of the Judge's decision.

If the continuance is granted, a new setting date and time will be mailed to the mailing address you provide.

DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR COURT - 

Appropriate clothing attire is required at all scheduled court dockets.

Per the presiding judge of this court, you may be sent home and rescheduled if you appear for a scheduled docket

wearing shorts of any kind, flip-flops or house-shoes, sweat pants or lounge pants, sleeveless shirts, logo t-shirts,

holey pants or tops, low-cut or excessively short and/or revealing attire.

This is a business setting.  You are expected to dress appropriately.

COURTROOM RULES:  (please read carefully)

The following dress attire will not be tolerated in court per the judge's instructions:

NO SHORTS, NO SLEEVELESS SHIRTS/BLOUSES, NO FLIP-FLOPS, NO "INTENTIONAL" HOLES IN YOUR PANTS/SHIRTS/BLOUSES.

Per the Judge's instructions - you may be sent home to change or have a failure to appear violation issued for inappropriate dress attire.  Dockets are professional settings, not a playground.

  1. NO WEAPONS ALLOWED - NO EXCEPTION - you will be required to walk through a metal detector and are subject to be  scanned by the Court Bailiff with a security wand.
    • *** Random weapons searches may be conducted at the discretion of the Court Bailiff or law enforcement personnel when entering the courtroom or at the judge’s request during court proceedings.
  2. LIMITED OCCUPANCY PER CITY ORDINANCE – NO MORE THAN 56 PEOPLE ALLOWED IN THIS BUILDING AT ANY ONE TIME,
    • WHICH INCLUDES COURT STAFF & SECURITY PERSONNEL.
    • *** Therefore, please limit your guests accordingly so to be respectful of others who have been ordered to appear, or for those who have been summoned to testify as a witness on a pending court case.
  3. ALL CELLULAR AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES MUST BE SILENCED OR TURNED OFF before entering the courtroom and must remain off or silenced while attending court. 
    • *** If you cannot follow this rule, you may be asked to surrender the device to the Court Bailiff until end of court session.
    • Continued disturbances on your part may require you to be escorted by the Court Bailiff out of the courtroom.
    • If you are asked to leave the courtroom before you have been called to the bench regarding your citation, it may be entered as a Failure to Appear violation.  So please be considerate of others and silence your cellular device.
  4. DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR COURT - this is not a playground or social gathering - Sunday casual attire is preferred.
    • PER THE JUDGE, DO NOT WEAR SHORTS OR A T-SHIRT WITH GRAPHICS ON IT. 
    • You will be sent home to change, and may be asked to reschedule your court setting and appear on another date.
    • If you are sent away due to inappropriate attire, you risk getting a Failure to Appear violation issued
    • with additional fines, fees, costs.  You may be rescheduled to appear at a future date/time.
    • You will not be allowed in the courtroom wearing a strapless top, swimsuit attire, or a t-shirt with slogans or distasteful pictures on it. Other items that will not be allowed to be worn in the courtroom are:  shorts, flip-flops or strapless sandals, pants/jeans with holes in them, excessive low-cut or see-thru revealing clothing.
  5. NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE COURTROOM
    • *** Please discard all food or drinks in the trash receptacle at check-in when entering the courtroom.
  6. CRIMINAL COURTROOMS ARE NOT AN APPROPRIATE PLACE FOR CHILDREN. 
    • Therefore, the Judge and court personnel ask that you make safe and adequate childcare arrangements for your little ones.
    • ***  If you must bring your children with you to court, please also bring a responsible adult with you to care for the child/children while you are discussing your case with the State's Attorney and/or with the Judge. Otherwise, you may be asked to leave and the court will reschedule you to appear on a different date/time to resolve your case.
