The General Municipal Election is conducted each year on the first Saturday in May. The City Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the City of Rhome and is responsible for conducting all City elections according to the Election Code of the State of Texas. The City of Rhome will hold a General Election on May 1, 2027.
The City of Rhome Council is composed of a Mayor and five council members who are elected by majority vote from the City at large. The Mayor shall be elected at the regular municipal election to be held May 2028, and Place 1, Place 2, and Place 3 shall be elected at the May 2027 general municipal election. Council members for Place 4 and Place 5 shall be elected at the May 2028 general municipal election. The Mayor and all Council members are elected for a two-year term and are elected at large.

Each person who becomes a candidate for Mayor or Councilmember shall meet the qualifications as set out in the Texas Election Code Chapter 141, Section 141.001.

The next City of Rhome General Election will be held in May, 2027. The last day to register to vote for the General Election will be found on the City's calendar page.

Applications for City Council will be accepted in the City Secretary's Office for the following dates: Applications must be notarized and submitted to the City Secretary.
