Mayor and Councilmembers

Mayor Jo Ann Wilson - Elected November 2020
Mayor Jo Ann Wilson is a lifelong resident of Rhome with deep family roots. Her father owned a service station in Rhome when Rhome had seven stations and two grocery stores. She also worked in the family advertising agency. Mayor Wilson has two daughters, Denise and Lisa, who were born here. Mayor Wilson has previously served on the Rhome Council for eight years; two terms as Mayor Pro Tem, welcoming businesses and seeing the Veterans Park and Family Park become a reality. In addition to college, she has training and certifications in Management, Budgeting, Inventory Management and Ethics. She retired as Director of Contract Management and Quality Assurance for a large Federal Agencies with over 30 years experience. Mayor Wilson has also volunteered in several capacities and organizations including, PTA Officer, Northwest Band Booster President, Pee Wee Cheerleader sponsor and as well as civic events promoting community unity.
Mayor Pro-Tem, Elaine Priest, Place 3Elaine was first appointed in January of 2018 to fill an unexpired term. She was re-elected in 2019 and brings a diverse professional background working with local, state and federal agencies. She holds a B.A. in Human Resources and a Master in Business Management. Her areas of expertise include grant-writing, developing budgets, and strategic planning. She and her husband, Terry, have two sons and 10 grandchildren.
Josh McCabe, Place 1
Josh served 8 years active duty in the Navy, Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and previous VFW post surgeon. He is a VFW member and founder of the Veterans Council Business Resource group at Mercedes-Benz Financial Services where he is also employed as Title Support Specialist. He holds an Associates in Applied Science focusing on Criminal Justice from TCC.
Michelle Tye, Place 2
Michelle Tye was appointed to Place 2, on January 20, 2021 after a vacancy was made when Council Member Kenny Crenshaw resigned his position at the January 14, 2021 meeting.
Sam Eason, Place 4
Born and raised in Dallas and educated in Nacogdoches, Sam and his wife, Tommie, settled in Rhome in 2013. He left the hectic, anonymous life in the city to find friendly neighbors always ready to lend a hand. He supports the U.S. Constitution and the strength in the separation of powers. In his free time he enjoys puttering in his shed.
Ashley Majors, Place 5 - Elected November 2020
Ashley was elected to office in November 2020 (due to COVID and the postponement of the normal election in May of 2020). Since moving to Rhome, she has been involved in the Comprehensive Development Planning process as well as serving on the Planning & Zoning Commission as Vice-Chair. She is passionate about economic development and attracting new business to the area. Ashley and her husband have two children and she enjoys being a full-time Mom.
