Mayor and Councilmembers

The City of Rhome is a Type A - General Law city operating under the Aldermanic form of government. The term 'alderman' is often used interchangeably with the term city council, and the modern name of the Board of Alderman is the 'City Council'. The City Council is made up of the Mayor and five (5) Council Members; the Mayor does not vote except in the case of a tie. Council Members serve a two-year term of office.

Mayor Pro-Tem Michelle Tye - Place 2
Michelle Tye was appointed to Place 2, on January 20, 2021, after a vacancy was made when Council Member Kenny Crenshaw resigned his position at the January 14, 2021 meeting. Place 2 was up for re-election in May of 2021 and Ms. Tye was re-elected at that time.

Kristi King - Place 4 - Appointed April 2023
Kristi King was appointed to Place 4, on April 20, 2023, after a vacancy was made when Council Member Kathy Konegni resigned her position at the April 13, 2023 meeting. Place 4 is up for re-election in May of 2024.

Kasey Shumake - Place 5 - Appointed January 2023
Kasey Shumake, Place 5, was appointed on January 12, 2023, and re-elected in the May 2023 Election. He holds a B.S. in Biology and his currently finishing his Masters in Accounting at Texas A&M Commerce. He has worked for the City of Roanoke as a Police Officer since 2011. His areas of expertise include budgeting, municipal infrastructure, city strategic planning, and traffic management. He has a wife and three children. 

Notice of All Public Meetings are posted to the City Calendar no later than 72 hours prior to the meeting.

City Council Meeting Schedule
Rhome City Council meetings are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month at the Rhome Community Center, 261 North School Road. To respect citizen's time, beginning Thursday, June 23, 2022, the meetings will start at 6 pm with Executive Session to follow immediately after.
