WELCOME NEW RESIDENTS

City of Rhome Logo 5x2 300dpi with taglineWELCOME TO RHOME!

The information on this page is to help residents, new residents in particular, navigate all things Rhome.

Rhome is a wonderful town, full of small-town charm and the Council’s goal
is to maintain our uniqueness even as we welcome new growth to the
‘Crossroads of the Metroplex.’

Old Mill
Here is an excerpt from our History Page, check it out in its entirety here:

“Rhome is on U.S. Highway 287/81 twelve miles southeast of
Decatur in southeastern Wise County. A community known as
Prairie Point, located at the crossroads of two stagecoach lines
near the site of present Rhome, was established in the late
1850s by a group of Missourians. One of these new settlers,
Samuel Sheets, owned land near the crossroads and in 1858
began to lay out and sell town lots”

ONE IMPORTANT POINT TO NOTE: You may have a Rhome address but NOT
be in our city limits and that has to do with the location of the U.S. Post Office,
which is located at 500 S Main Street, Rhome, TX 76078.
Here is a link to our zoning map with our city limits.

Why is this important? Because if you are not in the city limits,
you won’t be paying city taxes, nor will you have access to city services.
